The nature of the Baikal region is amazingly impressive and diverse, five nature reserves, three national parks, 25 nature reserves and more than 200 natural monuments are located there.

The lake stretches from south to north and its shape resembles a crescent. The dimensions of the lake are simply enormous: the lake stretches for 637 kilometers in length and up to 80 kilometers in width, the maximum depth of the lake is about 1600 meters, and it is located at the same latitude as the largest European capitals, such as Moscow and London.

Almost half of the flora and fauna of Baikal nature could not be found anywhere else on the earth, therefore the nature of Lake Baikal was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
